Intergovernmental Council Finalized Rules for Functioning of EAEU Common Electricity Market

On October 1, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council approved the Rules for Information Exchange in the Common Electricity Market of the Eurasian Economic Union. This is the final document in the set of rules for functioning of the common electricity market, the adoption of which is stipulated by the Treaty on the EAEU.

These Rules regulate information exchange between market participants, authorized bodies of the Union Member States in the energy sector and the Eurasian Economic Commission, and determine the details to be disclosed as part of market operations.

The document also creates a legal basis for the use of national electronic digital signatures in electronic document flow in the EAEU common electricity market.

"The common electricity market has become the flagship of Eurasian energy integration. The decision of the Eurasian Five countries on its creation is a rational decision to have balanced prices and tariffs for electricity and to achieve positive growth dynamics of the national EAEU economies," said Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure.
