According to him, today a premium is placed on issues related to defining and ensuring within the Union reasonable in-depth digital sovereignty based on the principle of progressively deepening integration processes within the EAEU and ensuring regional digital sovereignty.
Digital sovereignty enables a state to determine its own information policy and fully ensure security in this sphere. Therefore, each of the Eurasian five countries is doing whatever is necessary to digitize the economy as soon as possible. In particular, as Varos Simonyan said, the Republic of Belarus hosting the Forum "is one of the leaders in the Eurasian space and is advancing by leaps and bounds in issues related to the digital transformation of the economy."
"Today, when humanity depends on information and communication technologies as never before, one of our main tasks is to ensure the sustainable functioning of information and telecommunication systems — in other words, to ensure digital sovereignty by the comprehensive digitalization of economy and society," EEC Minister emphasized.
According to Varos Simonyan, in turn, the establishment of common rules for global and local digital platforms at the EAEU level will, on the one hand, create equal conditions for protecting the interests of the state and society in the Union countries, and on the other hand, reduce barriers for the entry of new platforms into the EAEU common market, thereby increasing the availability of high-tech services and creating conditions for economic growth. In this regard, it is necessary to exchange data between national resources, carry out its creative analysis in the interests of the whole Union and transfer best practices to the supranational level.
