EEF discussed introduction of digital technologies in transport

The development of integration in the field of transport and its impact on ensuring sustainable development of Eurasia was discussed on June 26 by the participants of the thematic session "Introduction of Digital Solutions in EAEU Transport: Paperless Technologies, Automated and Unmanned Vehicles". The event was held in Minsk as part of the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum.

"The role of digital technologies, the importance of timely introduction of digital tools into the transport industry of the Eurasian Economic Union countries are huge," said Rustan Jenalinov, Director of the Transport and Infrastructure Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission. "By 2040, the savings in the freight transportation and logistics sector will amount to more than 25 billion euros due to the transition from paper to electronic document flow."

Representatives of government agencies, business community and international organizations discussed in detail the development of unmanned systems, the introduction of paperless technologies, the possibilities of smart transport systems, the requirements for international transport corridors, as well as the economic and social effect of their implementation.

At the end of the discussion, Rustan Jenalinov noted that "for ten years, the EAEU's practical case for digitalization has been evolving from the establishment of information exchange between market participants and data exchange in business processes to the creation of digital ecosystems, technology platforms, the use of electronic documents and artificial intelligence to address ambitious tasks that require the analysis of large amounts of data, accounting or calculations."
