Sergei Vladimirov, Director of the Department of Customs Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice of the Eurasian Economic Commission, reported on the prospects for developing the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) concept in the Eurasian Economic Union at a consultation within the Plenary Session of the meeting between the Heads of the International Union of Business Associations in the field of foreign economic activities. The event organized by the CIS Business Center for Economic Development was held at the venue of the CIS Executive Committee.
Sergei Vladimirov dwelt in detail on the state of affairs on introducing the AEO in the Union for the purposes of implementing the current simplifications, and introducing new simplifications, as well as informed on improving the Union's regulatory framework, developing agreements on mutual recognition of the AEO and all possible support of this concept.
"The most optimal model of cooperation between the customs and the business community is the AEO concept, which makes it possible to ensure a balance between the interests of the state and business," the Head of the EEC Department noted.
The Association "CIS Business Center for Economic Development" was established by the decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State dated June 21, 2000 and the CIS Economic Council dated June 28, 2002.
In customs business, the AEOs are honest and reliable participants in foreign economic activities, the customs authorities build partnership with. These persons enjoy advantages in customs operations and customs control. The trend of applying the AEO concept gradually covers more and more countries on different continents.
