This was stated by Viktor Nazarenko, Minister in charge of Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at the meeting of heads of national bodies for standardization, metrology, certification and accreditation of the States parties to the Agreement on pursuing a coordinated policy in the field of standardization, metrology and certification (64th meeting of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (ISC) of the Commonwealth of Independent States), held on December 14-15 in Minsk.
As Viktor Nazarenko emphasized, the joint use of expertise and other resources for developing standardization not only contributes to improving its potential, but also creates positive conditions for creating fair competition within the common Union market, increasing the level of scientific and technical development of economic sectors, extends industrial cooperation, promotes trade between the EAEU countries and other CIS member nations.
"Up-to-date interstate standards provide the evidence base for technical regulations, establish requirements to products and rules of their research and maintain these requirements and research rules at a high technical level. The procedure for coordinating standardization work in the Union, approved this year by the EEC Council, is aimed at coordinating the planning process for developing the necessary interstate standards and bringing this work to a new systemic level," the EEC Minister noted. “I am confident that the effect of this work will be positive not only within the EAEU, but also in the CIS as a whole".
