Implementation of the new provisions of the Procedure for including accredited conformity assessment bodies in the unified register of conformity assessment bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union was discussed on July 26 during the meeting of the Council of Heads of accreditation bodies of the EAEU Member States featuring Viktor Nazarenko, Minister in charge of Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
"The new version of the Procedure is aimed at ensuring the efficiency of accreditation bodies and building trust to the performance of conformity assessment bodies accredited by them that are on the Union's unified register. It is important to prevent unfair activities by such bodies and minimize risks of violating the established conformity assessment procedures," noted Viktor Nazarenko.
It bears reminding that on July 22 this year, the decision of the Commission's Council dated May 22, 2023 came into force. It supplemented the criteria for including accredited conformity assessment bodies into the Union's unified register of said bodies.
Members of the Council of Heads reviewed the outcomes of the first (documentary) stage of the mutual comparative assessment of the accreditation authority of the Kyrgyz Republic. To move to the second stage of mutual comparative assessment in July–August this year consisting in monitoring the activities of accredited conformity assessment bodies, the Council of Heads produced a list of such Kyrgyz bodies.
Moreover, it reviewed the actions that accreditation authorities take in relation to conformity assessment documents issued by relevant bodies whose accreditation is terminated (or its scope is reduced) due to violations in the conformity assessment procedure. The Council of Heads endorsed the need to develop a Union's act on uniform approaches to suspending or terminating (invalidating) the conformity assessment documents by control (supervision) authorities and (or) other authorized bodies of Member States.
