Developing dialogue between the State, business and society was the main purpose of the forum held by the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana featuring representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The forum was arranged for the World Consumer Rights Day, which is celebrated annually on March 15 and reminds of the need to protect the interests of citizens and create a safe and fair market.
"Consumer protection is one of the important areas of joint work between the Eurasian Economic Union countries and the Commission," mentioned Vladimir Sinkevich, Director of the EEC Department for Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Measures. He emphasized that trust of consumers is based not only on the availability of goods and services, but also on confidence in the reliable protection of their rights.
Vladimir Sinkevich emphasized the importance of balancing the interests of the state, business and society, calling it a key element of the Union's agreed policy in this area. According to him, the EAEU's topic of the year, "Consumer in the Spotlight: From Balance of Interests to Fair Dispute Settlement", highlights the importance of balance at every stage of interaction between consumer market participants.
The discussion covered relevant matters and initiatives in the field of consumer protection. The EEC representatives shared international experience in e-commerce regulation, presented the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Commission and outlined the priority tasks that the EAEU countries are working on to protect the interests of consumers.
The Forum became a part of awareness raising work for the population and business, which is carried out in the EAEU in accordance with the Program of Joint Actions by the Member States of the Union in the Field of Consumer Protection.
