On November 10, amendments to the EAEU technical regulations on food products and their labeling, adopted earlier by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, will come into force.
The amendments will allow food products to be released in the EAEU market without replacing their labeling in the event of a change in the details regarding the location of an organization or individual entrepreneur being the manufacturer (person authorized by the manufacturer, importer).
According to the amendments introduced to Article 39 of the technical regulation On Food Products Safety within three years from the date of renaming of a city, region, street, etc., specified as details of the location address of the food product manufacturer (person authorized by the manufacturer, importer), it is allowed to release food products into circulation with the previous name of its location indicated in the labeling of such products, provided that the actual geographical location and the actual place of production remain unchanged.
At the same time, Article 4 of the technical regulation Labeling of Food Products provides for possible ways of communicating to the consumer reliable and up-to-date information on the location of the food product manufacturer (person authorized by the manufacturer, importer).
According to Valentin Tataritsky, Minister in charge of Technical Regulation of the EEC, the amendments adopted by the Council will have a positive impact on the business environment in the EAEU countries and will help ease the excessive financial burden associated with the need to replace the labeling of food products.
