The Section performs the following functions:

1) monitors the compliance of draft regulatory legal acts of Member States with provisions of the Treaty, international treaties and instruments constituting the Union law for the purpose of identifying obstacles in the internal market;

2) monitors how Member States implement provisions of the Treaty, international treaties and instruments constituting the Union law for the purpose of identifying obstacles in the internal market;

3) conducts primary analysis of information and appeals for signs of obstacles in the internal market;

4) takes action to identify and designate restrictions as eliminated;

5) ensures creation and maintenance of the restriction register;

6) participates in developing methodological foundations for dealing with restrictions;

7) ensures that interested persons are informed about removing restrictions;

8) develops action plans ("road maps") on removing obstacles in the Union's internal market;

9) monitors the implementation of actions provided for by action plans ("road maps") on removing obstacles in the internal market;

10) provides organizational support of activities carried out by the advisory body (bodies) on issues within the Department's jurisdiction;

11) ensures information portal maintenance and content management;

12) interacts with the Commission’s structural subdivisions and public authorities of Member States on issues within the Section’s jurisdiction.
