Arzybek Kozhoshev held meeting with Igor Petrishenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus
Projects related to the energy markets and transport in the Eurasian Economic Union were discussed by Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Igor Petrishenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus and Member of the EEC Council. The meeting was held on November 17 in Minsk.
Arzybek Kozhoshev informed on the activities in the supervised areas, and presented data on the progress of preparing a draft road map for implementing the Main Directions of the EAEU Countries' Transport Policy. This document will include activities for 2024-2026. The issues of infrastructural development were also touched upon, in particular, creating a mechanism for implementing priority integration infrastructure projects in the field of transport in the Union countries.
The parties noted significant progress on the project to establish the EAEU common electric power market. For example, three draft rules for the functioning of the Union's common electric power market were approved earlier by decisions of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. These are the rules for access to interstate transmission of electricity (capacity), the rules for mutual trade in electric power and the rules for determining and allocating the capacity of interstate cross-sections. Besides, the trading platforms were determined and tasked with organizing centralized electric power trade under futures contracts and on a day-ahead basis.
“Despite some difficulties, with the coordinating role of the EEC and the active assistance of the Ministry of Energy, we managed to find an option that would suit all the parties. The signed documents will serve the further establishment of the common electric power market," Igor Petrishenko noted.
The EEC Minister emphasized the need to meet the scheduled deadlines for preparing acts that regulate common energy markets.
"We can note the high degree of preparation of the acts on common energy markets being elaborated in the Eurasian Economic Union. Nevertheless, it is important to focus efforts on adopting final decisions on unagreed issues of establishing energy markets," Arzybek Kozhoshev believes.
