On September 30, on the sidelines of the 3rd Eurasian Economic Forum, Eldar Alisherov, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a working meeting with the heads of national statistical offices of the Eurasian Economic Union countries.
The most important issue on the meeting agenda concerned the definition of goals, key objectives and directions for strategic development of integration in the field of EAEU statistics until 2030.
"Working out strategic directions for development of Eurasian statistics for the next five-year period, we would like it to meet the expanding information needs of users to analyze the processes of Union functioning and development, as well as to promote the Eurasian integration development," said Eldar Alisherov. "To make statistics more accessible, quality-assured and useful, we need to take joint actions given the rapid development of information and communication technologies and new data sources."
Continuing the topic of further development of statistical activities in the Union, the heads of national statistical offices shared information on development strategies/plans of national statistical offices for a long term and made proposals on relevant directions for implementing joint activities with the Commission.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to discussing digitalization of the statistical sector. This is where the digital agenda begins, and what accompanies its implementation at all stages, both in the Union states and in the Eurasian Economic Commission.
"We are satisfied with the level of cooperation we have achieved. We managed to agree on further steps in the most important areas of joint work, which will increase the degree of harmonization and comparability of official statistical information in the Union," Eldar Alisherov summed up.
After the meeting the EEC Minister visited the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, where he met with the leadership of Armstat and reviewed the strategic development directions of national statistics.
