Agreement on cooperation between regulators of tourism services in EAEU countries approved

The Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board approved the Agreement on administrative cooperation between regulators of tourism services of the Eurasian Economic Union countries. It is elaborated to protect the interests of consumers and society from mala fide tour operators through efficient information exchange.

The document establishes the procedure for interaction between regulators enabling them to exchange information between themselves and prevent offenses in a prompt manner. They will be able to request and receive information from competent authorities of other countries, including information on the facts and grounds for holding tour operators liable, issued permits, tourism market participants, etc.

These mechanisms will spur development of the tourism industry and expand the single market for the entire tourism sphere and related services, simultaneously promoting mutual trust in tour operators and travel agents of other EAEU countries.

For reference

The Agreement was elaborated in accordance with Article 68 of the Treaty on the EAEU and Disposition No. 12 of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council dated December 20, 2019.

The single market for services is the state of a specific service sector wherein the sides do not apply discriminatory, quantitative and other restrictions, but permits and qualifications are recognized and the possibility is provided to supply services throughout the Union without an additional institution in the form of a legal entity.
