Eurasian Economic Commission and Government of Uzbekistan Signed Joint Action Plan

On October 1, on the sidelines of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed a joint action plan of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2024–2026.

Among the cooperation areas, in which it is envisaged to enhance interaction, are customs and technical regulation, economy, finance, trade policy, competition and antitrust regulation, public procurement, industry and agricultural sector, energy and transport, informatization and macroeconomics, sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary quarantine measures and consumer protection.

According to the head of the EEC Board, the implementation of joint activities in a wide range of cooperation areas will contribute to reinforced trade and economic ties between the EAEU countries and Uzbekistan.

Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, in turn, noted the importance of establishing practical partnership with the EEC in the implementation of multilateral projects of sectoral interaction within strategic directions of the EAEU development.

Uzbekistan is an Observer State at the EAEU.

In December 2023, implementation of the first joint action plan of the EEC and the Government of Uzbekistan for 2021–2023 and the list of additional areas of cooperation in the above plan were finalized, resulting in new points of growth and opportunities for further economic partnership development. The plan implementation demonstrated high involvement of Uzbekistan's public authorities in utilizing opportunities provided by the status of the EAEU observer state.
