Russian manufacturers enabled to make dairy products in a package of up to half a liter

Adapted or partially adapted initial or subsequent liquid mixtures, drinking cream and milk, as well as fermented milk products for infants in a sealed 0.5 L package will be available on the domestic Russian market by December 31, 2022.

The Eurasian Economic Commission's Council made the corresponding amendments to the Union's technical regulation "On Safety of Milk and Dairy Products" on July 15.

So far, in accordance with the requirements of the technical regulations, the packaging volume of such products in the EAEU countries could not exceed 0.2 L for adapted or partially adapted initial or subsequent liquid mixtures and 0.25 L for drinking milk, drinking cream and fermented milk products.

As Viktor Nazarenko, the EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation, emphasized, the decision was made on the initiative of the Russian Federation to eliminate the shortage of 0.2 L and 0.25 L packaging.

Such products shall not bear the EAEU conformity mark. In addition, the following inscription shall be put on the packaging: "For sale only on the territory of the Russian Federation".
In accordance with the decision of the EEC Council, the Government of the Russian Federation shall take measures for ensuring the circulation of products in 0.5 L packaging exclusively on the territory of Russia and ensure its traceability through the state information system for monitoring the turnover of goods subject to mandatory mark of circulation by identification means.
