The main integration directions within the Eurasian Economic Union are approved by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (Paragraph 24 Subparagraph 2 of Annex No. 1 to the Treaty on the Union).
In accordance with Paragraph 43 Subparagraph 1 of Annex No. 1 to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union dated May 29, 2014 (hereinafter, the Union), the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (hereinafter, the Commission) generates its own proposals and brings together proposals submitted by the Member States in the sphere of integration within the Union (including the development and implementation of the main integration directions).
The session of December 6, 2018, adopted Disposition No. 9 of the SEEC 'On Measures to Implement the Declaration on Further Development of Integration Processes within the Eurasian Economic Union' in accordance with which the Commission, jointly with the governments of the EAEU Member States, was instructed to develop a draft document determining the strategic directions for developing Eurasian economic integration until 2025 and disclosing specific mechanisms and measures for implementing the Declaration, as well as to submit it to the SEEC for consideration by the end of 2019.
A relevant working group under the leadership of Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics was created to prepare this document.
On May 29, 2019, the Heads of the EAEU Member States adopted the joint statement of members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of signing the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
On December 11, 2020, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council approved the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025that determined specific measures and mechanisms for achieving the targets of economic cooperation. A strategy is a program document for the Union's development for the next five years. Currently, in pursuance of Paragraph 2 of Decision No. 12 of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council dated December 11, 2020, the Eurasian Economic Commission, jointly with the EAEU Member States, is preparing a draft action plan to implement the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 to be approved by the Council.
