17 Jun 2025 Bakytzhan Sagintaev: "The EAEU priority is developing mutually beneficial foreign economic relations" On June 17, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board, held a working meeting with Tadzio Schilling, Director General of the Association of European Businesses (AEB), at the EEC's headquarters. The meeting discussed the prospects of cooperation between the Commission and AEB, which currently unites more than 380 European companies. "The Eurasian Economic Commission works jointly with the EAEU States to create favorable conditions for doing business. We consider the AEB as a reliable partner for efficient interaction with the business community," Bakytzhan Sagintaev emphasized. The Head of the EEC Board has noted that one of the EAEU priorities is developing foreign economic activities. The Commission is focused on consistent expansion of its international cooperation geography. Summing up the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further development of the dialogue of entrepreneurs across the Eurasian space. Bakytzhan Sagintaev conveyed his greetings to Tadzio Schilling on the 30th anniversary of the Association of European Businesses and wished him intense and productive work on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum.
17 Jun 2025 EEC and ASEAN develop cooperation in consumer rights protection Vladimir Sinkevich, Director of the Department for Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Measures of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in a meeting of the Committee on Consumer Rights Protection of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The main topic of his speech was the development of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and ASEAN in the field of consumer protection, the establishment of effective approaches to solving modern problems of the digital economy and ensuring a comfortable environment for market participants. Vladimir Sinkevich emphasized the importance of rapid response to changes in the market environment caused by digital technologies and artificial intelligence. According to him, successful dealing with these issues will be the key to steady economic growth and improving public welfare. "We are ready to share our accumulated experience, discuss initiatives and create new mechanisms of interaction, contributing to addressing common challenges to protect the interests of consumers in the EAEU and ASEAN regions," highlighted Vladimir Sinkevich. Together with Ronnarong Phoolpipat, Chairman of the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection, Vladimir Sinkevich presented the program of the sector-specific workshop scheduled for September 2025. The upcoming event will facilitate the discussion of consumer protection issues in the context of digitalization of trade and services, countering unfair practices, and creating efficient dispute resolution mechanisms. The seminar will attract representatives of authorized authorities of the EAEU and ASEAN States and will create a platform for exchange of experience and best practices.
17 Jun 2025 EEC Board temporarily zeroed out duties on certain types of components for hand-held power tools The Eurasian Economic Commission's Board has decided to set the rates of import customs duties of the СCT EAEU at 0% of the customs value in respect of certain types of components for the production of hand-held power tools (codes 8483 40 230 2, 8536 50 800 2 and 8545 20 000 1 of the CN FEA of the EAEU). The duties are temporarily zeroed out through December 31, 2029. "This measure of customs tariff regulation is aimed at increasing the competitiveness of hand-held power tools produced by enterprises of the Eurasian Economic Union, reducing the cost price of such production, increasing the existing capacity utilization, ramping up output and expanding the range of products, as well as creating favorable conditions for investment in the industry," mentioned Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Tariff and Non-Tariff Customs Regulation Department. At the same time, he emphasized that components for hand-held power tools of the required standard sizes are not produced in the EAEU. Necessary amendments will be made to other Commission's acts as well. Zero duty rates were applied to these goods from June 5, 2020 to June 30, 2023 inclusive. That contributed to an increase in power tools production capacity utilization in the EAEU countries and a higher share of domestic products in the internal market.  
17 Jun 2025 New program to develop standards for EAEU technical regulation "Electromagnetic Compatibility of Technical Means" approved The Eurasian Economic Commission's Board approved an updated program for developing interstate standards to ensure the implementation of the Eurasian Economic Union technical regulation on electromagnetic compatibility of technical means. The new program contains 123 items, which involve, in particular, making amendments to 13 interstate standards based on international standards. It is also planned to develop 109 interstate standards, of which 83 on the basis of international standards, 8 on the basis of regional standards and 18 on the basis of national standards of the Union countries. In addition, one interstate standard is scheduled for revision taking into account a regional standard (EN). The responsible developer of 31 interstate standards is Belarus, 7 interstate standards — Kazakhstan, 85 interstate standards — Russia.
16 Jun 2025 Bakytzhan Sagintaev held negotiations with Hans Kluge, Head of WHO Regional Office for Europe On June 16, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a working meeting with Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, at the EEC's headquarters. The meeting discussed the issues of cooperation between the EEC and WHO within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding and the action plan for its implementation until 2025. "Interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the World Health Organization, based on common values and goals, is an important element for shaping a modern and sustainable healthcare architecture across the EAEU," Bakytzhan Sagintaev stressed. Summing up the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to enhancing their constructive dialogue. Currently, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the WHO Regional Office for Europe are preparing a plan for further implementation of the Memorandum for 2026–2028. The new stage of cooperation will concern the practical implementation of joint measures in the field of healthcare within the EAEU with a focus on sustainable and systemic solutions. The Memorandum of Understanding between the EEC and WHO Regional Office for Europe had been signed in 2021. The EAEU States belong to a region, the activities of which within the World Health Organization are governed by the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
16 Jun 2025 Maxim Ermolovich: "Creation of a common exchange market for commodities within the EAEU will increase the level of economic interaction in the Five countries" Maxim Ermolovich, Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, participated in the annual general meeting of the International Association of Exchanges. The issues of exchange trade development were discussed, as well as the initiative to create the Inter-exchange Union of the SCO countries. EEC Minister reported on the preparation of the program for developing exchange trading in the common exchange (organized market) of goods within the Eurasian Economic Union. "Implementation of the program will require harmonizing the regulatory and legal framework of the Member States, unifying exchange trading rules, eliminating barriers and restrictions, as well as developing exchange infrastructure," Maxim Ermolovich noted. The Commission attaches great importance to the creation of a common exchange market for the Union's commodities in terms of promoting competition and improving pricing efficiency.  The event was attended by representatives of exchanges from the CIS, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. The International Association of Exchanges (IAE) was established in Moscow in 2000 for coordinated efforts to develop organized financial and commodity markets in accordance with international standards. The IAE comprises 16 leading financial and commodity exchanges from nine CIS countries, including the EAEU States.
16 Jun 2025 Vahagn Ghazaryan: "Digitalization of processes in the EAEU serves as an example of successful integration of modern technologies into international trade" This was stated by Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the Tariff and Non-Tariff Customs Regulation Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, speaking at the session Shaping Trade Digitalization in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Its Partners within the framework of the Paperless Trade Week 2025 under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok (Thailand). "Digitalization as a fundamental part of modern reality is one of the key tools ensuring the growth of the EAEU economy," mentioned the EEC representative. According to Vahagn Ghazaryan, among the important aspects of digitalizing trade within the EAEU are the introduction of a system of electronic country of origin certificates, electronic commerce, digital labelling, development of an integrated information system, and digitalization of logistics. The session, which was attended by the Director of the EEC Department, included a discussion of such key aspects of the current process of digitalizing trade in the EAEU and its partner countries as digitalization of foreign trade and logistics procedures, introduction of electronic document flow, blockchain and smart contracts in foreign trade, legislation on cross-border e-commerce, and approaches to the regulation of new digital technologies, including artificial intelligence. Besides, Vahagn Ghazaryan had a sideline meeting with Rupa Chanda, Director of the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division of ESCAP. The two sides assessed promising areas of cooperation in the field of trade digitalization and discussed possible areas for further work. Furthermore, the Paperless Trade Week 2025 included the Fourth Session of the key working bodies on implementing the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific, where Vahagn Ghazaryan informed the ESCAP Member States about the work carried out in the EAEU on trade digitalization and potential areas of cooperation between the EEC and the ESCAP Paperless Trade Council.    The main objective of the Paperless Trade Week 2025 is to promote cooperation between the public and private sector in the supply chain digitalization, and to support countries in adopting informed decisions while working together to implement the UN Treaty and Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific.

"This significant date has become a new milestone in the history of modern Russia, continuing successfully moving along the path of economic transformation, including within the framework of Eurasian integration processes," the letter of greetings reads. On behalf of the Eurasian Economic Commission and in his own capacity Bakytzhan Sagintaev wished the Russian Federation and its citizens well-being and prosperity.
