During his working visit to Astana on July 5, Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, held a working meeting with Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and member of the EEC Council.
Arzybek Kozhoshev informed the EEC Council member about the EEC Transport Unit’s activities on transport integration, first of all, about preparing a 2024-2026 roadmap for implementing the transport policy.
In particular, the Eurasian Minister noted that as of today, the document had been generally agreed upon, but some fundamental differences remained on civil aviation issues: the parties had not reached any consensus on approaches to forming a common market of air transport services. Aviation authorities will discuss the issue on July 15.
The meeting also discussed the development of shipping and coastal road transport.
Regarding the development of short-sea road transport, Arzybek Kozhoshev noted that, according to the adopted documents, since 2025 Kazakhstan would join the Program for Stage-by-Stage Liberalization of Cabotage Road Freight Transport.
As part of the Program, the Member States shall take measures to introduce amendments and additions into national legislation establishing the right to carry out cabotage road transportations for the EAEU Member States.
In this regard, a request was made to give the necessary instructions and inform the Commission about the progress in launching the implementing the Program in Kazakhstan from 2025.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Integration, the Ministry of Transport, and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs.
Rustan Dzhenalinov, Director of the EEC Department of Transport and Infrastructure, also took part in the meeting.
