EAEU and SCO develop interaction

Promising areas of cooperation between the EEC and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) were discussed during a working meeting between Sergei Glazyev, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, and Shukhrat Sobirzoda, Deputy Secretary General of the SCO, held on May 30 at the SCO headquarters in Beijing.

Sergei Glazyev noted the importance of building a dialogue between the EAEU and the SCO as one of the key players in the Greater Eurasia space.

“The EEC is rising to a new level of development in light of adopting the Declaration on further development of economic processes within the Eurasian Economic Union until 2030 and for the period until 2045 “The Eurasian Economic Path". I am pleased to emphasize that the SCO is one of the key international partners in all the EEC strategic documents,” Sergei Glazyev stated.
rn, Shukhrat Sobirzoda informed on the current international agenda of the SCO as well as plans to increase its membership, including in the context of the accession of the Republic of Belarus.

The parties exchanged views on adopting the Action Plan for implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the SCO Secretariat dated September 17, 2021. Implementing the Plan would enable the EEC to be abreast of relevant trends in economic interaction in the SCO region, as well as to inform partners about the status and prospects for developing the Eurasian economic project.

“The factor of interaction between integration and interstate associations is becoming more and more significant in today's global architecture. The dialogue between the EAEU and the SCO with a focus on the exchange of practical experience on the economic agenda is designed to ensure more comfortable and predictable conditions for the region's development,” the EEC Minister noted.

In terms of exchange of experience in organizing statistical data collection, the EEC Minister invited representatives of the SCO Secretariat to take part in the seminar “Methodology and Expertise of Statistical Studies” scheduled for June 19, which is held at the premises of the Statistics Department of the Faculty of Economics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Research Institute of Statistics of Rosstat.
