Page Content Eurasian Economic Commission organizes the first regional workshop “Application of international rankings to evaluation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Member States economic development”, which is held on June 5, 2017and moderated by Tatyana Valovaya, Member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The importance of international rankings in modern market economy is constantly increasing. International rankings are transforming from economic development evaluation tools into economic attractiveness indicators. Hence, countries positions in international rankings are taken into account for making economic and political decisions on regional, national and enterprise levels.  A lot of countries (including the EAEU Member States) have included international rankings positions as goal indicators in the systems of medium- and long-term planning (e.g. Doing Business Index, Global Competitiveness Index, Human Development Index).   Since 2015 the Eurasian Economic Commission has been evaluating the EAEU economic development on the basis of the international rankings system. The research results are highlighted in the annual report.  The analysis of the EAEU Member States positions in international rankings reveals both their national competitive advantages and competitive advantages as the part of integration association. The EAEU Member States positions intercomparison and their comparison with third countries positions outline the EAEU and its Member States economic development levels and their roles in the global economy. Also this information could be used to determine prospective spheres of economic development, constraining factors, best practices in goal-oriented economic policy and opportunities for best practices implementation by the EAEU or the EAEU Member States.  According to the aforementioned information, the following issues will be discussed: The role of international rankings in the modern market economy International rankings in the system of state goal-setting: the credibility issue The results of the EAEU Member States economic development evaluation on the basis of the international rankings system Prospects for best regulatory practices exchanges to improve state positions in international rankings (the case of the EAEU Member States) Evaluation of integration factor impact on the EAEU Member States positions in international rankings Methodological specifics of rankings calculations Participants of the workshop: experts from international organizations in charge of international rankings calculations (WB, UNDP, WEF), the EAEU Member States regulatory bodies staff members, experts from national ranking agencies (ACRA, Expert RA), Eurasian center of integration researches and communications, Russian Union of Industrials and Entrepreneurs, Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, non-governmental association “Opora Rossii”, etc. Reports will be presented in Russian and English with simultaneous interpreting.  Venue: Eurasian Economic Commission office (Conference Hall, 10th floor, 2, bld.2, Letnikovskaya St., Moscow, Russia) In case of your interest in the workshop and for any detailed information please contact Madina Aimenova, senior expert of Economic Policy Strategies Section Macroeconomic Policy Department, at +7 (495) 669-24-00 ext. 46-40, or via e-mail aymenova@eecommission.org by May 26, 2017.
