The importance of international rankings in modern market economy is constantly increasing. International rankings are transforming from economic development evaluation tools into economic attractiveness indicators. Hence, countries positions in international rankings are taken into account for making economic and political decisions on regional, national and enterprise levels.
A lot of countries (including the EAEU Member States) have included international rankings positions as goal indicators in the systems of medium- and long-term planning (e.g. Doing Business Index, Global Competitiveness Index, Human Development Index).
Since 2015 the Eurasian Economic Commission has been evaluating the EAEU economic development on the basis of the international rankings system. The research results are highlighted in the annual report.
The analysis of the EAEU Member States positions in international rankings reveals both their national competitive advantages and competitive advantages as the part of integration association. The EAEU Member States positions intercomparison and their comparison with third countries positions outline the EAEU and its Member States economic development levels and their roles in the global economy.
