EAEU countries agreed to develop interregional cooperation

At its meeting held on August 2, the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board adopted a recommendation to intensify interregional trade and economic cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union.

As Sergei Glazyev, EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, has noted, this work is contemplated by the Strategy-2025. The recommendation covers informational, organizational and financial aspects of developing the EAEU interregional cooperation.

For example, the document proposes to consider the expediency of elaborating joint interregional projects to be implemented in border territories as well as financial instruments to support them. Besides, the countries are recommended to hold the Eurasian trade fairs and "business matchmaking" for business representatives in the regions.

Furthermore, the list of proposed events includes webinars and retreats to involve regions in integration processes and engage representatives of regional authorities and business communities in the Commission’s activities.

It bears reminding that in May this year, the EEC held the first seminar on developing interregional cooperation in Kapan, the Syunik Region (the Republic of Armenia). The event was attended by representatives of the EAEU countries’ authorized bodies and regional public authorities, the business community and others.
