EEC plans to coordinate manufacture of critical machine-tool engineering products

Representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Industrial Unit took part in the business programs of the international exhibitions of chemical industry and science “Chemistry-2024” and the polytechnic exhibition of equipment and technologies for construction materials processing “Technoforum-2024”.

During the events, they discussed the issues of achieving technological sovereignty in the manufacturing industry, industrial cooperation and investment projects in the Eurasian Economic Union, and machine-tool industry development, as well as received additional inputs to continue the EEC Industrial Unit's work on preparing sectoral lists.

“Preparing the lists in accordance with the EEC Board's recommendation dated July 1 this year envisages the possibility of creating information databases that will allow to identify needs, coordinate work on mastering the production of critical machine-tool products and form new cooperation ties in the Union,” noted Dmitry Yaroshenko, Head of the EEC Industrial Policy Department's Section.

The Commission's delegation held a series of business meetings, including with Leonid Freiman, Deputy Executive Director of the Russian Chemists Union.

The Commission's representatives informed the exhibition attendees on the possibilities of using a mechanism for financing industrial cooperation in implementing projects involving three or more EAEU States.

The EEC Board's Recommendation “On developing industrial cooperation of the EAEU Member States in the field of machine-tool engineering” was adopted on July 1, 2024 and envisages the possibility of creating lists of: a) types of machine-tool engineering products, their parts and components, not manufactured in the EAEU territory and the manufacture of which is a priority according to the national sectoral strategic programs of the Member States; b) types of machine-tool engineering products, their parts and components, manufactured by the Member States' industrial enterprises; c) the EAEU interested industrial enterprises ready to participate in implementing joint cooperative projects in the field of machine-tool engineering.

Nowadays, the EEC Industrial Policy Department prepares an Overview of the EAEU low-tonnage chemistry (LTC) industry, a List of critical products of the EAEU LTC, as well as a List of the EAEU manufacturers and research organizations that manufacture such products.
