Chairman of the EEC Board Viktor Khristenko: "We tried to make supranational regulations more effective than the national ones based on the best world practices”

The last session of the First Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission has been held on January 26. When summing up the work results, the Chairman of the EEC Board Viktor Khristenko thanked the Members of the Board - Ministers for joint fruitful work. He noted in particular: "The past years have been crucial for the development of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Commission, as well as for further integration deepening. We faced global tasks. All this time, in close dialogue with the business communities of the Member States of the Union, we have worked hard to make supranational regulations more effective than the national ones based on the best world practices. We have fulfilled key tasks, leaving a good start for new Members of the Board." The Chairman of the EEC Board presented the EEC Ministers leaving their office with certificates of appreciation for their great contribution to the solution of tasks on the development of Eurasian integration: the Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation of the EEC Vladimir Goshin, the Minister in charge of Trade of the EEC Andrey Slepnev, the Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC Tair Mansurov, the EEC Minister Ara Nranyan, and the EEC Minister Robert Arutyunyan. The Board Members of the new Commission expressed their gratitude to Viktor Khristenko, whose term of office also expires on February 1. The EEC Minister Karine Minasyan and the EEC Minister from Kyrgyzstan Danil Ibrayev thanked the Chairman of the EEC Board “for the fact that, thanks to his enormous personal efforts, five national flags were already represented in the Eurasian Economic Union”. The session participants of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission discussed issues in the sphere of macroeconomics, trade, customs cooperation, informatization, competition and antitrust policy, as well as technical regulations. The EEC Board began to discuss the necessity to create a common digital space within the Eurasian Economic Union (the EAEU). The previous session participants approved the Draft Disposition of the EEC Board “On activities on formation of a common digital space of the Eurasian Economic Union". The issue has been repeatedly raised by representatives of the business community of the EAEU Member States at different venues, including at the sessions of the Advisory Council for Cooperation of the EEC and the Belarusian-Kazakh-Russian business community, the Presidium of the Business Council of the EAEU. Within the activities provided for by the disposition, it is expected to discuss issues on effective use of digital technologies for rendering of public services on cross-border markets, increase in the proportion of digital commerce in the structure of trade in goods and services on domestic and foreign markets, access of small- and medium-sized businesses to electronic platforms of all Member States of the Union, as well as convergence of approaches with regard ro forming infrastructure for development of the digital economy within the EAEU. The Council Disposition provides for creation of a working group including representatives of the Commission, business communities and public authorities of the EAEU Member States.
