On November 26, Arman Shakkaliev Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission met with representatives of European businesses in Moscow.
The participants discussed the issues of transboundary regulation in the space of the Eurasian Economic Union, transboundary e-commerce. In addition, the businesses were interested in the criteria for dividing the market on a territorial basis, issues of parallel imports and counterfeiting, as well as state regulation of prices for certain goods, etc. The meeting was organized by the Association of European Businesses.
In his speech, Arman Shakkaliev noted that interaction with the business environment is one of the strategic directions in the EEC's activities intended to create the most favourable conditions for developing fair competition in the EAEU markets.
"The task of our Unit as a supranational antimonopoly authority, on the one hand, is to ensure the competition development, and on the other, to protect bona fide players from the anticompetitive behavior of others. Close interaction with businesses helps us to keep our finger on the pulse and timely respond to urgent issues and problems of the business community," the Minister noted.
In his report, Arman Shakkaliev paid special attention to the activities carried out by the Commission’s Competition Unit to digitize the public procurement sector. According to experts, the savings based on public procurement procedures in electronic format are about 10-15% of the initial price of the goods.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on closer cooperation between the EEC and AEB's Competition Units.
