Arzybek Kozhoshev: "In the near future, we need to create sustainable transport routes and corridors"

On November 23, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC Arzybek Kozhoshev and Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for Transport and Development of Transport Infrastructure Evgeny Moskvichev discussed integration issues in the field of transport.

"The formation of EAEU industry markets in the transport sector is not just a task of fulfilling the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU, but also a necessary condition for realizing the potential of economic integration and a resource platform for the full development of transportation within the EAEU. In the short term, we need to form sustainable transport routes and corridors, strengthen them with appropriate digital services and technically equipped infrastructure facilities," Arzybek Kozhoshev said.

During the meeting, the EEC Minister informed about the implementation of the activities of the roadmap for the implementation of the transport policy for 2021-2023 and said that in the first quarter of 2023, the EEC, together with the parties, will start preparing a roadmap for the next three-year period.

In turn, Evgeny Moskvichev reported on the legislative activities and plans of the Committee, as well as on the problems reported by the Russian transport business associated with the change in classical routes for the movement of goods, the application of sanctions and restrictive measures to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, which affected transport links with the countries of the European Union.

During the discussion, liberalization issues concerning road freight transportation were also touched upon. The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the situation of cabotage road freight transport in the EAEU countries and agreed to continue interaction on this issue to develop appropriate proposals.

At the end of the meeting, the participants noted the importance of further close interaction, the need to jointly hold or participate in key events in the upcoming 2023 in order to discuss the development of the transport sector.
