22 Jul 2025 EEC report on impact of Eurasian integration on Sustainable Development Goals presented to UN The main findings of the second EEC Report on the impact of the Eurasian economic integration on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Eurasian Economic Union countries were presented at the UN Headquarters in New York. Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, presented the report's theses at two key platforms of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). Speaking during the HLPF general debate, Arzybek Kozhoshev noted the EAEU role as a dynamically developing integration association. Along with that, the deepening of the Eurasian economic integration serves as a significant additional factor contributing to the achievement of the SDGs by the Eurasian “five” countries. “The EAEU successful functioning with a single market uniting more than 185 million consumers and consistent implementation of agreed economic policies have become a catalyst for economic growth. The aggregate GDP of the EAEU countries grew by 4% by the end of 2024, and for the second year in a row it was above the global average,” Arzybek Kozhoshev noted. Arzybek Kozhoshev developed the theme of the regional dimension of sustainable development at the session “Regional Perspectives on SDG Implementation”. He presented the EAEU experience as a vivid confirmation which demonstrates the importance of cooperation at the regional level in addition to national strategies to achieve the global goals.  The EEC Minister informed about the Commission's methodology for monitoring the progress – the “Regional List of SDG Indicators”. He also emphasized that the implementation of long-term development strategies of the Union will be aimed at achieving a wider range of SDGs. This entails the Declaration on further development of economic processes within the EAEU until 2030 and for the period up to 2045 “The Eurasian Economic Path”.  Arzybek Kozhoshev informed about the Commission's plans to continue analyzing the impact of integration on the SDGs and share its results with the international community, therefore contributing to the global efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda. The HLPF under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is the central UN platform for reviewing progress towards the SDGs. The “Regional List of SDG Indicators”, a comprehensive tool that includes 130 indicators (67 of which are specific to the Eurasian integration priorities), makes it possible to conduct an in-depth analysis of the relationship between integration processes and the dynamics of achieving the SDGs.
18 Jul 2025 Arzybek Kozhoshev met with UN Under-Secretary-General On July 17, Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, met with Ms. Rabab Fatima, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, at the UN Headquarters in New York. During the meeting, the two sides discussed priority issues of sustainable transport development, regional integration, and expanding trade and economic opportunities for landlocked countries. The Minister has noted that the EEC attaches key importance to shaping a common transport space, eliminating infrastructural and administrative barriers, as well as fostering digital transformation of logistics. Summing up the meeting, Arzybek Kozhoshev expressed his hope that the exchange of views would lay the foundation for long-term and constructive cooperation between the EEC and the High Representative's Office. The Office of the United Nations High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2001 to support a number of vulnerable States facing unique challenges in achieving sustainable development goals and fulfilling international obligations.
16 Jul 2025 Arzybek Kozhoshev: "EAEU Energy Sector amidst Energy Transition: Challenges and Advantages" Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, delivered a report entitled "EAEU Energy Sector amidst Energy Transition: Challenges and Advantages" at the UN Headquarters (New York). The speech was part of the event "Accelerating Energy Transition in the Global South: Promoting Steady Economic Growth and Strategic Partnerships" held at the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF-2025). In his address, the EEC Minister has noted that in 2017 the world entered the phase of the fourth energy transition, where renewable energy sources, digitalization, energy-saving technologies are actively developing, and decarbonization processes are intensifying. In this context, balanced development of both traditional and renewable energy sources is important. Only such an approach can ensure both national and global energy security, the minister believes. Arzybek Kozhoshev emphasized the high energy potential of the "five" countries, mentioning that the EAEU has significant energy resources: 20% of the world's gas reserves, 20% of coal reserves, 7% of oil reserves, and 5% of the world's electric power generation. Special attention was paid to integration initiatives, including the creation of common markets for electric power, gas, oil and petroleum products, development of cross-border infrastructure, and coordination of the EAEU participating countries' climate agenda. Interaction with international partners and openness to joint projects are also among the priorities. The Minister expressed his commendation to the organizers of the Forum and the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) for their contribution to sustainable energy promotion, outlining practical interest in GEIDCO's experience.
03 Jul 2025 Arzybek Kozhoshev held working meeting with CCTT head Mikhail Goncharov A working meeting between Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, and Mikhail Goncharov, Secretary General of the International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT), took place on July 3 at the Eurasian Economic Commission. The two sides discussed relevant matters of rail transport in the Eurasian region, and developing transport infrastructure and logistics corridors in the EAEU in modern conditions. The Minister emphasized the importance of further strengthening the partnership between the EEC and CCTT to create a sustainable transport system that promotes economic growth and integration in the Eurasian region. "The practice of holding annual joint events on relevant matters of developing the transport and logistics complex shows the demand for this format. We bring representatives of government agencies, leading transport companies and associations around the same table," said Arzybek Kozhoshev. Mikhail Goncharov emphasized that the practical implementation of interaction plan between the EEC Transport and Infrastructure Department and the CCTT Secretariat will serve as an additional impetus for advancing fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation on the development and improvement of international railway and multimodal transportation of goods. A Memorandum of Understanding between the EEC and CCTT was signed in 2017 to promote cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.
27 Jun 2025 Arzybek Kozhoshev: "The common market will ensure equal access to transboundary trade in electricity" Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the round table "EAEU Common Electric Power Market: Future Outlook" at the EEF 2025 in Minsk, dedicated to the prospects of integrating the electric power markets of the Eurasian Five States. "The common market will provide equal access to transboundary trade in electricity, expand the volume and methods of mutual trade, make it possible to equalize the load schedule in the energy systems of the Eurasian Economic Union countries and abandon excessive construction of generating capacities. This will increase the energy security of the Member States," Arzybek Kozhoshev noted. The event participants noted the progress in establishing the regulatory framework for the EAEU common electric power market, considered the specifics of reforming and developing the internal electric power markets in the context of integration and identified the prospects and priorities for the development of the real sector and the business community of the Union countries under the conditions of the future market functioning. "By now, almost the entire regulatory framework for the functioning of the electric power market has been approved, and the Accession Treaty with regulations has been prepared to a large extent. At the same time, it is extremely important to follow the principles of establishment and functioning of the common electric power market enshrined in the Treaty and implemented in the rules, including in view of the extensive impact of the electric power industry on the real sector," Arzybek Kozhoshev informed. The round table was attended by heads and experts from more than 50 industry organizations, confirming the high interest of business and regulators in the establishment of a common electric power space. The discussion participants were heads of energy agencies and representatives of infrastructure and exchange organizations of the EAEU States.
