EAEU Member States on way toward common gas market

The uncoordinated sensitive issues of creating a common EAEU gas market were discussed by the heads of the EAEU countries' authorized authorities in the energy sphere during negotiations chaired by Temirbek Asanbekov, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure. The event took place on December 23 at the Eurasian Economic Commission's venue.

When opening the event, the EEC Minister emphasized the importance of the actively ongoing dialogue on the approval of draft international agreements on the common EAEU gas market formation and uniform rules for accessing gas transmission systems located within the Member States territories. He noted the importance of the unconditional implementation of the agreements reached earlier at the highest level.

The meeting participants confirmed the need to ensure non-discriminatory and transparent pricing and tariff setting for gas transportation services in the common market, exchanged views on the operation of bilateral international treaties and the specifics of identifying market participants.

The parties expressed their readiness to settle particularly sensitive issues of gas supply and agreed to continue substantive consultations on coordinating individual provisions of the draft international treaty and uniform access rules.

The final decision will be made by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council next spring.
