State sanitary and epidemiological surveillance supplemented with risk assessment

On September 23, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission adopted amendments to the Procedure for state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance (control) on the Eurasian Economic Union's customs territory and border.

Innovations are aimed to introduce into the document some provisions on implementing the state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance (control) with due account for the risk assessment. They will allow avoiding the negative impact on the human body when consuming / using products from the most “risky groups”. It will help to identify the most “risky groups” of products, strengthen their supervision and reduce the administrative burden in relation to products that do not pose high risks of harm to human health. In addition, the administrative burden on product manufacturers and suppliers will be reduced.

On March 31 this year, the norm enshrined in the Surveillance Procedure was included in the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
