Mikhail Myasnikovich: "Scientific and technical cooperation will become the driver of economic development and improving the quality of life of our countries’ citizens"

The Eurasian Economic Commission places a large premium on interaction with the scientific community both in the Union and abroad. This was stated by Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the EEC Board, in a video appeal to attendees and organizers of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "30 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Outcomes and Prospects" being held on September 27-29 in Minsk.

“Efficient interaction with the CIS Executive Committee in the scientific and technical sphere has been established. Efforts are taken to harmonize the measures provided for by the Interstate Program for Innovative Cooperation of the CIS Participating States for the period until 2030 and the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 approved by the Heads of State in December last year", Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

According to the Chairman of the EEC Board, the Strategy-2025 is a fundamentally new step in deepening integration. The pride of place in it was held by a whole range of measures and mechanisms to promote scientific, technical and innovative activities.

"Promising scientific research results and projects should become a driver for technical retooling of our economies, increasing innovation activity as well as the basis for a qualitative transition from trade cooperation to investment activity in the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS", Mikhail Myasnikovich expressed confidence.

According to him, the Commission strives to create all conditions required for implementing scientific achievements in practice. There operates a Scientific and Technical Council under the Chairman of the Commission’s Board formed as an open discussion platform for discussing a wide range of issues of the Eurasian economic integration from the scientific and expert perspective.

Today, relevant matters are on the EAEU development agenda, a significant contribution to solving which can be made by the scientific community of the EAEU and the CIS countries. This is the case of such areas as overcoming the coronavirus pandemic consequences, forming the climate agenda, food security, digitalization and others. We count on your active participation in our joint work. I am convinced that scientific and technical cooperation will become the driver of economic development and improving the quality of life of our countries’ citizens", Mikhail Myasnikovich summed up, wishing the conference attendees efficient work, rich discussions and outstanding scientific discoveries.
