EAEU countries’ accreditation authorities to start mutual comparative assessments in 2023

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved the Procedure for Mutual Comparative Assessments of the Eurasian Economic Union States' Accreditation Authorities with the aim to achieve the equivalence of the applied procedures and raise confidence in accreditation and conformity assessment results.

Mutual comparative assessments are conducted for each accreditation authority once every four years and include:

- analysis of accreditation procedures applied in the EAEU countries;

- monitoring of performance by accreditation authorities of procedures for assessing the accredited conformity assessment authorities (certification bodies, testing laboratories (centers) and inspection authorities);

- preparation of the final report and recommendations based on results of the performed activities.

"Accreditation is a sphere that serves as a basis for the competence of conformity assessment authorities admitting products to the market," Viktor Nazarenko, EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation, noted. "It largely determines the environment of trust for the subjects of accreditation in the sphere of circulation of the Eurasian Economic Union countries' products."

According to Viktor Nazarenko, as one of the basic documents necessary for implementing a number of measures under the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration, the procedure will ensure the conduct of mutual comparative assessments by accreditation authorities as early as from 2023.
