The EAEU is implementing a Comprehensive Action Plan in the field of public health and sanitary and epidemiological welfare to prevent COVID-19

At a meeting of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission on November 29, Viktor Nazarenko, EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation, spoke about the implementation of the Comprehensive Action Plan in the field of public health and sanitary and epidemiological welfare to prevent COVID-19.

To date, the EAEU countries have ensured a mutual exchange of information on the epidemiological situation in connection with the spread of the coronavirus infection COVID-19 and the anti-epidemic measures being taken.

Joint research is ongoing to develop vaccines and diagnostic test systems for infectious diseases, including research on COVID-19. Specialists from relevant organizations are conducting joint exercises to perfect response measures to outbreaks of known and unknown (new) infectious diseases.

As part of this plan, the EEC Board adopted recommendations to ensure the implementation of preventive measures during the movement of freight vehicles along the "green corridor" routes when resuming the railroad passenger service and air-passenger traffic in civil aviation. Recommendations have been developed to regulate an agreed algorithm for responding to outbreaks of infectious diseases and for laboratory diagnostics of coronavirus infection COVID-19.

The implementation of comprehensive measures in the Union countries contributed to more efficient control over the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 and increased the health systems' capacity to respond to the emergence of new infectious diseases in the EAEU.

In 2020, the order of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council approved a Comprehensive Plan of Short- and Long-Term Actions intended to systematically strengthen the public health system, build capacity for epidemiological surveillance preparedness and develop efficient diagnostics and vaccines against COVID-19.
