Bakytzhan Sagintaev and President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan discussed development of integration processes within EAEU

Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held negotiations with Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, within the framework of his working visit to Yerevan.

Vahagn Khachaturyan congratulated Bakytzhan Sagintaev on his recent appointment and wished him fruitful work in his new position.

The parties discussed further development of integration processes in the Eurasian Economic Union in the medium and long term, elaborating on the priority areas of the EEC activities for implementing the initiatives previously outlined by the officials of Armenia as the country chairing the EAEU.

In particular, the parties noted the importance of promoting cooperation between the EAEU countries in the field of energy security, high-tech development, transport logistics and other areas.

Bakytzhan Sagintaev and Vahagn Khachaturyan also stressed the need to increase trade turnover and proportional development of economic ties between the EAEU Member States, as well as to deepen existing contacts and establish new ties between business circles.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue working contacts to "compare positions" on relevant matters on the Eurasian agenda.

The Republic of Armenia assumed the chairmanship in the Eurasian Economic Union's governing bodies from January 1, 2024. In accordance with the Treaty on the EAEU, the chairmanship in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the Commission's Council shall be assumed on a rotation basis in the Russian alphabetical order by one Member State within one calendar year without the right for prolongation.
