EAEU zeroes duties on new commodity groups and simplifies import procedures
The Eurasian Economic Commission’s Council has approved the proposal submitted by the sides to expand the list of products temporarily imported into the EAEU at zero rate of customs duty. The new list includes a wide range of critical imports, in particular, food products and components for their manufacture, packaging materials, chemical products as well as component parts for the manufacture and repair of transport vehicles.
Along with that, a decision will be adopted soon on instructions from the Commission’s Council on a number of commodity items under the EEC Board’s jurisdiction.
"Besides, in light of external constraints and with regard to limited duration of the customs tariff regulation measure, it was decided to simplify the process of its practical implementation, abandoning the need to confirm intended purpose of the bulk of imported goods", noted Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister in charge of Trade. He clarified that such simplification affected exemptions previously approved by the Commission as well.The decision will apply to legal relations arisen since March 28, 2022.

Earlier, according to Decision No. 37 of the EEC Council dated March 17, 2022, a tariff exemption was granted until September 30, 2022 in the form of customs exemption in respect of food products and goods used in their manufacture. Besides, exemptions were granted in respect of goods for food production and marketing; goods for pharmaceutical, metallurgical and electronic production; goods used for developing digital technologies; goods for light industry production, as well as goods used in the construction and transport industries.
