The main directions of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) as well as prospects for integration processes in Eurasia were discussed at the official meeting between Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the EEC Board, and Kairat Sarybay, CICA Secretary General. The event was held on March 28 at the Commission’s headquarters in Moscow.
“Given the broad geography of the EAEU and CICA Member States, our cooperation covers most of Eurasia, which is a significant competitive advantage and an important opportunity for implementing efficient projects in various economic sectors,” emphasized Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the EEC Board.
The CICA Secretary General informed Mikhail Myasnikovich on transforming the organization into a full-fledged international organization for cooperation in Asia. This decision was adopted and a relevant statement was signed by the Heads of State and Government of the Organization's Member States during the CICA Summit held on October 13, 2022. He also expressed his desire to maintain constructive interaction started in 2022.
The meeting attendees discussed plans to extend cooperation within the Memorandum of Interaction between the EEC and CICA. The promising areas of joint work included the exchange of experience in such areas as digitalization and the development of information and communication technologies, transport and logistics, economy and finance, and food security. Special emphasis was also placed on enhancing economic connectivity in the region and increasing resistance to external challenges.
The Chairman of the EEC Board invited Kairat Sarybay to the Eurasian Economic Forum on May 24-25, 2023 in Moscow.
