Outcomes of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council's meeting on August 25-26, 2022

The Heads of Governments of the Eurasian Economic Union countries considered nine issues at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council’s meeting held on August 25-26 in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyz Republic) in a face-to-face format.

The Heads of Governments of the EAEU States announced the completion of work on the Agreement on Incorporating the Eurasian Reinsurance Company (ERC), an international financial organization that has no analogues in the Eurasian space.

Members of the Intergovernmental Council have approved a list of priority infrastructure transport projects in the EAEU countries.

The Heads of Governments of the EAEU countries discussed the issue of expanding the use of the EAEU countries' national currencies when making settlements in mutual trade. The development of the EAEU and the consistent growth of mutual trade between the Member States are accompanied by an increase in the share of national currencies in mutual settlements. Over the past seven years since the incorporation of the Union, their share has exceeded 70%, reaching 74% by 2022.

The Heads of Governments of the EAEU countries discussed amendments to the Treaty on the Union in terms of indirect taxation on electronic trade in goods sold to natural persons.

The Eurasian Economic Commission presented to the members of the Intergovernmental Council the reports on the progress of work to create and implement mechanisms for financing industrial cooperation in the Union and on the progress of work on the Agreement on Alcohol Market Regulation in the EAEU.

The EEC will continue to work towards rapprochement of the positions of the parties on the Agreement on Alcohol Market Regulation in the EAEU, amending the Treaty on the Union in terms of indirect taxation on electronic trade in goods sold to natural persons.

The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held on October 20-21 this year in the Republic of Armenia.

The meeting was attended by Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, Chairman of the Cabinet Council - Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. On the part of the representatives of the observer states to the EAEU, the meeting was attended by Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Julio Antonio Garmendia Peña, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Russian Federation, as well as Ali Idayat ogly Asadov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as an invited participant in the meeting.
