Kyrgyzstan completes modernization of border crossing points as part of EAEU accession

On March 26, during his working visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, the EEC Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation Eldar Alisherov and a group of experts from the Eurasian Economic Commission and authorized bodies of the EAEU countries visited the modernized road border crossing point (BCP) "Kyzyl-bel" on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, where he got acquainted with its customs infrastructure.

As part of the joint monitoring of the implementation of measures to modernize the checkpoints on the external border of the Kyrgyz Republic, the experts confirmed the completion of the arrangement and material and technical equipment of the Kyzyl-Bel Checkpoint in accordance with the requirements of the EAEU.

Equipping the checkpoint with modern equipment and a set of customs control technologies will contribute to the development of transit potential while ensuring an appropriate level of customs control.

The EEC Minister also took part in a working meeting with representatives of the State Customs Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, during which the results of the implementation of commitments to modernize border crossing points undertaken in the framework of the accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the EAEU were summarized.

"The Kyrgyz Republic has fully completed the measures on installation of facilities and fitting-out the border crossing points as provided for by the Protocol on Conditions and Transitional Provisions related to the accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union," Eldar Alisherov noted.

Following the results of monitoring the modernization of the customs infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan's checkpoints, the Commission will issue a report which should be sent to the EAEU Member States and submitted for consideration at a meeting of the Advisory Committee on the interaction of controlling bodies at the customs border of the Union.
