Maksat Mamytkanov discussed customs administration matters with colleagues from the EAEU countries

The prospects for amending the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union, development of the Authorized Economic Operator institution in the EAEU countries, improvement of the customs transit procedure, generating unified approaches to improvement of customs operations, information exchange between customs bodies of Member States and a range of other issues were discussed by Maksat Mamytkanov, EEC Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation, and members of the Joint Board of Customs Services of the Union Member States.

The relevance of the considered agenda is conditioned by an increase in cross-border movement and the need for intensive use of modern information technologies in customs administration.

"The Joint Board and decisions taken by it are an important tool in terms of modernizing the Union law. Indeed, our cooperation in preventing and suppressing violations of the customs legislation needs consistency," highlighted Maksat Mamytkanov. "Today, the key task is to establish digital transport corridors and to create a common customs transit system using electronic navigation seals."

The key messages of its activities are determining priority areas in the field of customs affairs and coordination of practical cooperation among the customs authorities of the Eurasian Economic Union countries on the main aspects of customs policy.
