On April 28 in Cairo (Egypt), Maxim Ermolovich, Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the conference "20 Years of the Egyptian Competition Authority: Milestones and Future Prospects".
The event, held under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Egypt, brought together leaders from competition authorities, international organizations, public officers, and experts to discuss relevant matters and challenges in the field of competition policy.
Maxim Ermolovich noted the high level of cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union states with Egypt in the field of competition, touched upon the main achievements of the country in this area and emphasized the role of Egypt as one of the leaders in developing competitive partnership in the African region.
The EEC Minister emphasized promising areas of cooperation with Egypt, such as exchange of legislative innovations, experience in conducting investigations into competition violations, commodity market research, including sectoral analysis, as well as stock trading.
"We highly appreciate the achievements of our colleagues from Egypt and are interested in disseminating and possibly introducing or scaling up their unique experience of lawmaking and competition law enforcement," Maxim Ermolovich emphasized.
The event included thematic sessions devoted to discussing the role of courts and parliaments in ensuring efficient competition law enforcement, as well as the impact of competition on economic growth and investment.
