Maksim Ermolovich: “Developing competition in the EAEU is a joint objective of the EEC and businesses”

Maksim Ermolovich, Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a working meeting with Alexandra Nesterenko, President of the Association “Non-Profit Partnership ‘’Corporate Counsel Association‘’ (RCCA).

Maksim Ermolovich informed on the main directions of the Commission's work in the field of competition policy, touching upon the planned changes in the Eurasian Economic Union's law, interaction with the business community and the Member States' public authorities in conducting proceedings, and the Commission's market research initiatives. Along with that, the EEC Minister emphasized that developing competition in the EAEU is a joint objective of the EEC and the business community.

The sides discussed issues of dividing powers between the Commission and national competition authorities, applying the EEC acts and national antitrust legislation, composition and type of necessary evidence for different categories of violations. The approaches taken by the Commission in analyzing markets were considered.

The meeting attendees expressed their readiness to continue cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

It should be noted that the Commission holds regular meetings with the business community to formulate an up-to-date agenda.
