30 May 2025 EEC discussed issues of improving EAEU customs regulation On April 30, the Eurasian Economic Commission held a meeting of the high-level Working Group on improving customs regulation chaired by Ruslan Davydov, the EEC Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation. It discussed amendments to the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union concerning the simplified movement of containers across the EAEU customs border. The issues of increasing the efficiency of applying the customs transit procedure, as well as the exchange of information on fish catches and fish products were considered. The Working Group participants agreed to continue discussing the most sensitive issues. The next face-to-face meeting of the Working Group is scheduled to be held in May this year.

30 May 2025 Maxim Ermolovich: "Meetings of regional competition organizations help develop more efficient competition policy around the world" The Eurasian Economic Commission, with the support of the Egyptian Competition Authority, held a working meeting of representatives of regional competition organizations in Cairo. It was attended by Maxim Ermolovich, the EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation. Such events, which have become traditional on the initiative of the EEC specialized unit, help international regional organizations cooperate constructively on relevant matters and share experience. The focus of the fifth meeting was on practices for efficient competition regulation. "We promote the benefits of regional cooperation, strengthen and expand interregional dialogue, adapt best competitive practices to the needs of each region and generate new ideas, which ultimately leads to a more efficient competitive policy around the world," believes Maxim Ermolovich. The EEC will continue to hold meetings of regional competition organizations. The fifth meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Egyptian Competition Authority, representatives of UNCTAD, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, the East African Community, the West African Economic and Monetary Union, the Economic Community of West African States, the Arab Competition Network, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, BRICS and the Caribbean Community.

22 May 2025 Andrey Slepnev discussed with Samad Hassanzadeh interaction between entrepreneurs from EAEU countries and Iran Andrey Slepnev, the EEC Minister in charge of Trade, met with Samad Hassanzadeh, President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, at the Eurasian Economic Commission's headquarters. The two sides discussed interaction between the business circles of the EAEU and Iran in the context of implementing the full-fledged Free Trade Agreement that entered into force on May 15, 2025. Andrey Slepnev informed his Iranian colleagues about preparing a road map for implementing the Agreement, which will include measures to develop direct cooperation between the EAEU and Iranian businesses and thematic seminars to provide clarification on the specifics of the parties' trade regulation. "The new agreement establishes unique conditions of access to each other's markets for business circles of the EAEU and Iran, creates convenient mechanisms and platforms for networking, making urgent trade and economic cooperation decisions, and harmonizing the understanding of specifics of legislation and its enforcement practices in our countries," told Andrey Slepnev. The EEC Minister invited Iranian business representatives to take part in the Eurasian Economic Forum to be held in Minsk on June 26-27. "We see the new phase of cooperation with Iran as a partnership. It is important that our entrepreneurs perceive each other not as competitors, but as partners in order to build up their potential and technology capacity and work together in the total market of 250 million people," emphasized Andrei Slepnev.

22 May 2025 Bakhyt Sultanov: "It is necessary to maintain a balance between supervising migration flows and ensuring the rights of labor migrants in the EAEU" On May 22 in Baku, Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission, as part of the meeting of the Council of Heads of Migration Authorities of the Commonwealth of Independent States, spoke about the Commission's work on migration, emphasizing the importance of coordinating efforts to ensure the rights and social guarantees of migrant workers in the Eurasian Economic Union. The meeting participants discussed the current situation with migration in the CIS countries, as well as coordination of interaction between public authorities in implementing the main directions of migration policy in the CIS countries. The EEC Minister noted the significant growth of labor migration within the EAEU: "Since the entry into force of the Treaty on the Union, annual labor migration flows have increased by a third and exceeded 1 million people last year." Bakhyt Sultanov presented the results of the recently completed monitoring of the legislation of the EAEU countries in the field of labor migration for compliance with the law of the Union. The monitoring showed that the states are taking similar measures to promote the inflow of highly qualified specialists and are also making progress in digitalizing public services in the area of labor migration. The EEC Minister drew attention to the need to strike a balance between supervising migration flows and ensuring the rights of labor migrants, noting that any legislative initiatives aimed at regulating migration should not be inconsistent with the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU. In conclusion, Bakhyt Sultanov reported on the brochure Employment and Social Security of Citizens of the EAEU Member States in the Russian Federation, prepared by the Commission, translated into the languages of the Union states and posted on the EEC website. It is planned to create similar brochures on the legislation of other EAEU countries. During the event, Bakhyt Sultanov held business meetings with the heads of migration authorities of the CIS countries, where they discussed the current migration situation, cooperation on exchange of experience and information, as well as jointly preparing and organizing specialized events.

22 May 2025 Bakytzhan Sagintaev held negotiations with Akira Muto, Japanese Ambassador to Russia On May 22, Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, met with Akira Muto, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Russian Federation, at the EEC headquarters. During the meeting the two sides discussed the prospects of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and Japan.

21 May 2025 Commission discussed intensification of trade with Serbia with EAEU public authorities and businesses A seminar featuring public authorities and businesses of the Eurasian Economic Union countries, dedicated to the development of sectoral cooperation, identification and elimination of barriers to mutual trade with Serbia, was held on May 21 in the Eurasian Economic Commission under the chairmanship of Andrey Slepnev, the EEC Minister in charge of Trade. The event was aimed at intensifying cooperation within the framework of the Free Trade Area Agreement between the EAEU and its Member States, on the one part, and the Republic of Serbia, on the other part. The objective of the seminar was to identify trade barriers faced by exporters in different economic sectors when supplying goods to the Serbian market, as well as new opportunities for cooperation and ways to eliminate trade restrictions. "The proposals voiced at today's event will be elaborated in detail jointly with the Member States for possible discussion at the planned meeting of the Joint Committee for implementing the Agreement with the Republic of Serbia," mentioned Andrey Slepnev. In this regard, the EEC Minister recalled the recent fruitful consultations with the Serbian party having resulted in the removal of quantitative restrictions on imports of vegetable oils and margarine from the EAEU from March 3, 2025, which had been in force for two years. The Free Trade Area Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States, on the one part, and the Republic of Serbia, on the other part, was signed on October 25, 2019 and came into effect on July 10, 2021. The Agreement provides for mutual abolition of import customs duties on 93% of the commodity nomenclature.

21 May 2025 EAEU countries increase integration in ensuring uniformity of measurements Ani Obosyan, Deputy Director of the Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the Metrology Without Borders international metrology forum and exhibition, timed to coincide with the World Metrology Day. In her speech at the forum Ani Obosyan greeted its participants on the World Metrology Day and the 150th anniversary of the signing of the 1875 Metric Convention and the establishment of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures. She noted that the current period of the Commission's activity in the field of ensuring the uniformity of measurements can be called a new stage of increasing the level of integration within the Eurasian Economic Union. "The necessary level of support of the integration directions included in the Eurasian Economic Path Declaration, where the results of activity depend on the accuracy and reliability of measurements, is planned to be provided through introducing common principles of metrological support of measurements", emphasized Ani Obosyan.

20 May 2025 EEC amended list of standards to technical regulation on oil and fat products The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved amendments to the list of standards to the technical regulation of the Union "Technical Regulation on Oil and Fat Products" (TR CU 024/2011). The list was supplemented with two interstate standards: GOST 35012-2023 "Unrefined linseed oil. Technical specifications" and GOST 35013-2023 "Safflower oil. Technical specifications" developed within the framework of the Program for developing (amending, reviewing) interstate standards to the said technical regulation. The amendments were prepared by the Commission on the basis of proposals by the authorized standardization authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account the relevant provisions of the Procedure for developing and adopting lists of international and regional (interstate) standards. Amendments to the list of standards shall enter into force once 180 calendar days have elapsed from the date of official publication of the EEC Board's decision.
