On July 11, a round table "The path to sustainable agricultural development of the Eurasian Economic Union Member States" was held under the chairmanship of Aina Kusainova, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Agricultural Policy Department.
They discussed the activities of international institutions in this field, the current situation and forward-looking measures to reduce the negative impact of the industry on the EAEU environment, the development of the market for alternative protein sources and optimization of fertilizer use in industrial agriculture.
“According to the UN classification, agriculture is among the TOP-5 sectors of the economy in terms of damage to the environment. In this regard, the need for sustainable agricultural development dictates the need to find balanced solutions that will ensure food security for present and future generations," Aina Kusainova emphasized.
The Commission's representatives paid attention to the need to join efforts of public authorities, scientific institutions and the business community to reduce the negative consequences of industrial agriculture and adaptation of the EAEU agricultural sector to climate change.
