The matters of interaction among supervisory authorities at the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union were discussed by members of the relevant Advisory Committee of the Eurasian Economic Commission at the meeting presided by Maksat Mamytkanov, EEC Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation.
The Report on the results of monitoring customs checkpoints of the Kyrgyz Republic was approved. International experience in assessing performance of checkpoints and activities of supervisory authorities at them was analyzed. It was approved to create a working group under the Advisory Committee to compile the list of performance indicators according to the strategy goals of developing checkpoints in the Union's countries and the methodology for calculating their values.
Possible additions to the EEC Council's Decision No. 6 dated February 22, 2019 were considered that deal with the Union States' annual sharing of information on upcoming plans for modernizing or retrofitting checkpoints in accordance with national plans and strategies of the Union States.
Maksat Mamytkanov noted that "the initiatives proposed by the Commission's Customs Unit to provide more detailed information on checkpoint burden are aimed at improving coordination of EAEU customs infrastructure and transport corridor development. More detailed analysis of factors influencing the speed of handling cargo that moves through checkpoints will allow to optimize business processes not only for supervisory authorities but also for business representatives. Possibilities of using additional information on the volumes of transferred cargo will allow businesses to plan their activities taking into account cargo flows and actual burden on customs and other infrastructure located at the external boundary of the Union."
