EEC held first meeting of Working Group on developing unified measures to protect information contained in navigation seals

The issues of developing unified measures to protect the information contained in navigation seals were discussed at the Eurasian Economic Commission's headquarters under the chairmanship of Maksat Mamytkanov, EEC Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation, on July 7, 2022. The discussion took place as part of the Working Group’s activities on developing unified measures to protect the information contained in navigation seals for monitoring traffic.
The Working Group was established as part of implementing the provisions of the Agreement on using navigation seals for monitoring traffic in the Eurasian Economic Union dated April 19, 2022. The EAEU Member States’ specialists in the field of information security take part in its work.

The meeting attendees discussed the storage structure in navigation seals, requirements to cryptographic security, algorithms (schemes) or the procedure for applying, monitoring and removing navigation seals, subjects of data encryption in navigation seals, as well as issues of drafting regulations aimed at implementing the Agreement on using navigation seals for monitoring traffic in the EAEU.

Following the Working Group’s meeting, it was decided to involve other Commission’s Industrial Units, as well as representatives of the Union countries’ authorized public authorities in addressing these issues involving digital solutions, to develop relevant methods and deadlines for implementing tried-and-tested mechanisms.

The next meeting of the Working Group on developing unified measures to protect the information contained in navigation seals for monitoring traffic is scheduled for early August this year.
