On May 2, the Agreement on mutual recognition of academic degrees in the Eurasian Economic Union States, signed on June 8, 2023 at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, came into force.
Now national documents certifying academic degrees of citizens of the Eurasian Five countries are automatically (without national recognition procedures) recognized for labor activity in another state of the Union, with the exception of cases when holders of such documents apply for allowances or benefits established for an academic degree in the state of employment.
“The agreement is aimed at increasing the mobility of highly qualified specialists and will contribute to further freedom of movement of labor resources,” noted Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister in charge of Economics and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
