Upon the proposal by the Republic of Kazakhstan, members of the EEC Council have adopted a decision allowing any official representative of a foreign manufacturer to act as an applicant for vehicle certification in the EAEU, as well as for the distribution or extension of the conformity assessment document.
At the same time, the norm of the technical regulation
"On the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles" has been suspended, according to which conformity assessment documents for a car or auto components are terminated in case of revocation of authority from the representative of the manufacturer who received them.
As Viktor Nazarenko, EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation, noted, the decision was made, including taking into account the previously discussed proposal of the Republic of Belarus, as part of measures to increase the sustainability of the Member States' economies and in order to promptly resolve the problems that importers encounter when importing new cars and car components in connection with the revocation by foreign manufacturers of the authority of their official representatives who certified products in sanctioned countries.
The established norm shall be valid until December 31, 2024.
