Comprehensive modernization of customs infrastructure at checkpoints on the border of the Kyrgyz Republic is being completed
From November 13 to 17, experts of the Eurasian Economic Commission and authorized representatives of the Eurasian Economic Union countries, together with representatives of the State Customs Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, monitored the arrangement and equipment of the customs infrastructure elements at the Kairagach, Karamyk and Bor-Dobo automobile checkpoints, located on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Following the monitoring activities, Daniyar Imanaliev, Director of the Commission's Customs Infrastructure Department, and Almaz Saliev, Deputy Head of the Customs Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, signed a report saying that the measures for arranging and equipping the customs infrastructure elements at these checkpoints were fully implemented.
“Kyrgyzstan is close to fulfilling all its obligations to modernize checkpoints that it took as part of joining the Union,” noted Daniyar Imanaliev. “We have ascertained that as part of the modernization, a number of customs infrastructure facilities have been built, checkpoints are equipped with the most modern technical means, customs officers have the necessary knowledge and skills and are ready to perform their duties. The modernization will contribute to the development of trade and transit potential, the creation of the most favorable conditions for participants in foreign economic activity to move goods across borders, and at the same time will ensure the appropriate level of customs control.”
Daniyar Imanaliev also held a series of working meetings with the leadership of the Kyrgyzstan customs service to discuss issues of completing modernization, subsequent ensuring of day-to-day operations and plans for further improvement of the customs infrastructure at checkpoints.
The efforts made by the customs service of the Kyrgyz Republic to effectively use the new infrastructure, including as part of achieving a number of promising objectives, were appreciated. Among them are the introduction of automated information exchange between all regulatory authorities at the border via secure communication channels; transition to the use of electronic shipping documents; connecting technical means of customs control to the Unified Automated System of the Customs Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.
