30 Jan 2023 EAEU registered increase in production and trade in aquaculture products Over the past five years, the EAEU aquaculture production has increased by 1.7 times. Along with that, the greatest growth has been observed in Kyrgyzstan - by more than 5 times, Kazakhstan - by almost 4 times, and the Russian Federation - by 1.7 times. The volume of mutual trade in fish and fish products between the EAEU countries increased by 1.6 times. This was reported by Maria Baigot, Head of the Section of Agroindustrial Policy, Interstate Programs and Projects of the Agricultural Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at the conference "Eurasian Aquaculture and New Opportunities for Investment in Fisheries Industry" within the AGROS International Trade Fair for Breeding, Feed, Veterinary Medicine and Technologies for Livestock and Poultry Husbandry and Forage Harvesting.   "Aquaculture is a strategic business area in the Eurasian Economic Union countries showing a substantial growth as well as an impetus for a whole range of related industries: resource allocation, supply, trade, logistics and marketing activities", Maria Baigot noted.  According to the EEC representative, the fastest growth of the industry is observed in the market of prime fish, where the dependence on imports is significantly high. In this regard, it is advisable to increase the self-sufficiency in planting material, feed and other resources on the basis of cooperation between the Union countries’ interested companies.  A promising area for cooperation includes training of fishery specialists in high-demand areas by conducting a joint training course between the EAEU States’ universities.  The Commission’s Agricultural Unit is open for interaction with the interested experts of the business and science community, and associations in the field of aquaculture as well as ready to provide a platform for developing relevant solutions. For reference AGROS is an authoritative international trade fair for professionals of the agricultural sector of Russia and States of the near abroad, which is held with the active participation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and leading industry associations. This year, over 400 companies from more than 20 countries presented their solutions at the trade fair.
25 Jan 2023 EEC approved measures for developing promising areas of cooperation in hydrogen energy between EAEU States The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved the report "On the Analysis of Prospects for Hydrogen Energy Development in the Eurasian Economic Union" and adopted a recommendation aimed at developing cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union countries in this field. The documents were prepared in order to implement the Main Directions for Industrial Cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union until 2025. The report contains information on comprehensive analysis of main technologies for hydrogen manufacturing, transportation, storage and application; review of global experience in the hydrogen energy sector using the examples of several countries; trends of hydrogen energy development in the EAEU States.  The document pays special attention to analyzing potential opportunities and drawbacks for developing hydrogen energy and corresponding projects in the Union countries. Also, it describes the main points and goals of growth for each Member State taking into account maturity of the industry's regulatory and legal framework, resources and the country's potential, defines the goals and proposes directions for further industry development. "To promote hydrogen energy in the Union, it is necessary to pay special attention to facilitating research and technology cooperation of our countries, as well as making innovations, component prototypes and finished products in three directions. These are hydrogen production, transportation, storage and applications (transport, industrial manufacturing)," noted Artak Kamalyan, EEC Minister in charge of Industry and Agricultural Sector.   The recommendation defines promising development directions for research and technology cooperation in the field of EAEU hydrogen energy, such as low-carbon hydrogen production via water electrolysis through the use of electric power from NPPs, small HPPs and renewable energy sources; low-carbon hydrogen production from hydrocarbons using various methods; hydrogen compression, liquefaction, storage and transportation; hydrogen transport and infrastructure required for it; materials for solid oxide electrolyzer cells and fuel cells, as well as for applying promising hydrogen storage technologies. The implementation process will contribute to developing cooperative ties between the Union Member States in the field of hydrogen energy, research and technology cooperation, experience exchange between Member States on key hydrogen technologies and projects, facilitate joint research and development of technologies by efforts of organizations from the Five countries in the promising cooperation directions of the field in question.   "Adoption of the recommendation is the first step towards establishing cooperation between the EAEU Member States in the field of hydrogen energy," stressed Artak Kamalyan.

Matters of seed farming development, seed production in the EAEU, using innovative technologies in crop farming to make agriculture more efficient, increasing competitiveness of crop products in the EAEU domestic market and third-country markets and finding logistics solutions to export seeds of crop plants were discussed with representatives of the German business community.
Commission proposes to use experience of Belarus in building charging infrastructure in EAEU countries 23 Dec 2022 Commission proposes to use experience of Belarus in building charging infrastructure in EAEU countries This issue was discussed during the working visit to the Republic of Belarus paid by Nikolay Rogozhnik, Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission. As part of the presentation of a superfast charging system held in Minsk, the EEC representative discussed the possibility of creating a similar project in other Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union.  As envisioned by the Belarusian project designers, the key advantages of such system include high-power charging of electric buses together with electric cars, an energy storage system, an unmanned store and introduction of smart city systems.  At the meeting of the expert group on EAEU cooperation in the automotive industry under the EEC Advisory Committee on Industry, the representatives of authorized authorities and business agreed to look into the feasibility of implementing a similar project in Member States following its consideration at the Commission Council's meeting in 2023. For reference Production Association Belorusneft RUE is the state operator creating and developing charging infrastructure for electric cars in Belarus. The company plans to design and commission 8 superfast charging stations in 2023.
