Liberalization of the trade regime between the EAEU and Vietnam enabled to increase the trade turnover between the two parties by 36% over the past year
The results of the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the prospects for the expansion of the single services market of the EAEU and the growth of global protectionism in the international arena were considered by the representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the business communities of the Member States on June 18 at the XIXth Business dialogue meeting, which was chaired by Veronika Nikishina, Member of the Board (Minister) in charge of Trade of the EEC.

The implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Vietnam, which entered into force on October 5, 2016, was discussed on June 18 at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) by the Member of the Board (Minister) in charge of Trade of the EEC Veronika Nikishina and the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Trần Tuấn Anh. Certain positive trends in the development of trade were pointed out, largely due to the Agreement.

EEC discussed the issues of free circulation of BAA
No requirements beyond those stipulated by the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) must be imposed on the content of labels of biologically active food additives (BAA) sold in the Russian Federation. This opinion of the business and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) was supported by the representatives of Rospotrebnadzor attending the meeting organized by the Internal Markets Operation Department of the EEC on June 15.

The EEC Lifted Customs Duties on Cashew Nuts and Industrial Fatty Alcohols
The issues of trade, internal markets, informatization, information and communication technologies, as well as customs regulation were considered during the meeting of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on June 13. Import customs duty rates on a number of goods were lifted, certain types of products were classified; other decisions on deepening the Eurasian integration were adopted. The EEC Board has lifted import customs duty rates of the EAEU Common Customs Tariff (CCT) on the industrial fatty alcohols (IFA). The measure is introduced from September 2, 2018 to August 31, 2021. The current rate on these goods is 5% from their customs value.

The EEC Public Reception Office: a New Format of Business Engagement
A visiting session of the Public Reception Office on the Competition and Antitrust Regulation block of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) was held in Astana (the Republic of Kazakhstan) on June 11. As it was emphasized by Marat Kussainov, Member of the EEC Board (Minister) in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation, strengthening business community engagement in terms of protecting competition in transboundary markets of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is one of the key objectives of the Commission, and the Public Reception Office format provides the business with the possibility to directly specify one’s problems by holding an open dialogue with the EEC representatives.

Models of Eurasian Digital Cross-Sectoral Cooperation were offered at CIPR-2018 in Innopolis.
“We need new models of digital cooperation to develop in the EAEU joint value-added chains, cross-sectoral digital ecosystems and to synchronize digitalization processes of business and state authorities through joint projects. Our objective within the framework of the conference is to develop and offer such model,” Karine Minasyan, Minister in charge of Internal Markets, Information Support, Information & Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), emphasized in her address to the panel session “Implementation of the EAEU Digital Agenda through Digital Projects” organized by the EEC. The event was held as part of the conference “Digital Industry of Industrial Russia” in Innopolis (Russia). The ministers of the Commission, Karine Minasyan, Veronika Nikishina and Sergey Sidorsky, participated in the panel session.
