Andrey Slepnev: "The EAEU and China continue to implement the cutting-edge project on digitalizing railway freight transportation"
This was stated by Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, following the meeting of the Joint Commission for Implementing the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the People's Republic of China. "One of the key conditions for reducing delivery time for goods by rail transport, eliminating administrative barriers and lowering costs for businesses is a transition to electronic transport and shipping documents," the EEC Minister stressed. During the meeting of the Joint Commission there were consultations of the Russian party with representatives of China Railway; according to Andrey Slepnev, they were aimed at final approval of all the required conditions to sign the Procedure for Interaction in Pilot Paperless Transportation and the Agreement on Paperless Transportation. "We expect that the required internal legal procedures in the PRC will be completed before the end of this year. We also hope that in the very near future a similar package of documents will be ready for signing with Kazakhstan, too," the Head of the EEC Trade Unit noted.

Arzybek Kozhoshev: "Rail transport is one of the pillars to fulfill the EAEU transit potential"
Modern development trends in rail transport and new logistics solutions, infrastructure development and innovations were discussed at the 5th joint round table of the EEC and the International Coordinating Council for Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT). The event was held at the Eurasian Economic Commission's headquarters. "Rail transport remains a key integration element for our countries and the foundation for fulfilling the EAEU transit potential. Today, we face the task of not just adapting to new challenges but of actively shaping the future of the Union's transport system," Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, highlighted in his welcome speech. The event brought together representatives of public authorities, railway administrations, logistics companies, the academic and expert community of the Eurasian Economic Union countries. Representatives of the leading transport and logistics companies of the Eurasian region, including UTLC ERA, FESCO, Delo Group and others, discussed the situation with supply chains, prospects for container shipping and multimodal logistics development. Special attention was paid to personnel training for the transport industry in the context of digital transformation. Following the event, a joint communiqué was adopted where the round table participants noted the need to: - accelerate digitalization of transport and logistics processes; - develop infrastructure for strengthening the EAEU transit potential; - harmonize the legal framework and introduce innovative solutions; - enhance coordination between the EAEU Member States in the key development areas of the transport system. The event has been held in this format since 2021 and has become an important platform for dialogue between the authorities of the EAEU countries, railway administrations and the business community contributing to working out agreed approaches to developing rail transport across Eurasia.

EEC discussed implementation of agreed consumer protection policy
The meeting of the Advisory Committee on Consumer Protection summed up the results of the five-year implementation period of the specialized events under the Strategy 2025. As Valentin Tataritsky, Minister in charge of Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, noted, "Cooperation in consumer protection reached a fundamentally new level." A joint action program of the Union countries has been adopted for the first time being an appropriate and necessary step to establish a reliable consumer protection mechanism within the EAEU. It is planned to inform the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council about the results of joint work in the first half of 2026." The Advisory Committee members discussed the new joint action program of the Member States until 2030, the draft of which will be submitted to Heads of Government for approval next year. The EEC Minister emphasized that the program provides for an active participation of non-governmental organizations and business enabling a comprehensive and balanced approach to the common consumer market development. The meeting participants confirmed the need for further expansion of sectoral cooperation, agreed the topics for awareness raising in consumer protection for 2026 and reviewed the initiative of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus on restricting obscene language and offensive images on goods and at sales locations. The Advisory Committee on Consumer Protection of the Union States was established by the Commission's Board to prepare proposals, recommendations and holding consultations on implementing the agreed policy in the said field by the Member States. The Advisory Committee comprises representatives of public authorities, businesses, academic and non-governmental organizations of the EAEU countries. The Advisory Committee is chaired by Valentin Tataritsky, the EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation.

Eurasian Energy Policy edited by Arzybek Kozhoshev recognized as year's economic book
The Eurasian Energy Policy monograph won the award Economic Book of the Year 2025. The award ceremony was held on November 11 in the State Kremlin Palace as part of the 10th All-Russian Economic Assembly, the Jubilee Congress of the Free Economic Society of Russia, dedicated to the 260th anniversary of this organization. The book written by a group of authors from the Eurasian Economic Commission under the general editorship of Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, became the best in the category "Integration Processes: Development Prospects". The monograph explores the shaping and development of a common energy policy within the EAEU. "Such appreciation indicates a growing interest to the Eurasian economic agenda and a recognition of the study level," Arzybek Kozhoshev mentioned. The public award Economic Book of the Year was established by the All-Russian non-governmental organization The Free Economic Society of Russia to identify the best economic publications. The award has been presented annually since 2018. On November 11, Russia celebrates Economist Day established by the Government's decision in 2015. In 2025, the event brought together over 3,500 participants from Russia and a number of foreign countries.
