EAEU Technical Regulations “On Safety of Packaged Drinking Water, including Natural Mineral Water” to take effect on January 1, 2019
On bottles of drinking water for infant’s and children’s food, the inscription “for child’s food” or another indication of the purpose of drinking water will now appear for this purpose. The manufacturer or seller will have to give information on the age of children for whom drinking water is meant (under or since three years), to inform of the total mineralization, its basic composition, indicating chemical elements, storage conditions and shelf life after opening the container.

GMO foods becoming more noticeable
On December 26, the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) introduce additional requirements for labeling products containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs). New standards included in the Union technical regulations “Food Products regarding their Labeling” will allow consumers to make a more informed and correct choice of food products.

The EAEU Court put an end to debate on athletes-legionnaires’ labor relations
On December 7, at the request of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) concluded that the provisions of Clause 2 Article 97 of the Treaty on the EAEU apply to athletes who work in sports clubs of the Union Member States.

Outcome of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council: programs aimed at forming common markets of gas, oil and petroleum products approved, Declaration on Further Development of Integration Processes within the EAEU signed
During the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC), held on December 6 in Saint Petersburg (Russia), a number of important decisions were adopted in the areas of integration, industrial cooperation, and energy. The event was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan. The meeting was also attended by the President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon.

EAEU intending to create Eurasian brands
“We must focus on global integration projects that would create Eurasian brands and help promoting our goods at the third countries’ markets”. This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan speaking in Moscow at the plenary session of the XIII International Conference “Eurasian Economic Integration”.

Prospects for cooperation were discussed on November 19 in Bangkok by the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha.This meeting preceded the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the EEC and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Memorandum of cooperation signed by the EEC and the Government of Thailand
The document is aimed at enhancing interaction between the States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Kingdom of Thailand. Over time, it will enable to increase mutual trade in goods and services, and to scale up investments.

EEC and ASEAN Secretariat to establish steady dialogue
On November 15, in Singapore, the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan and the Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Lim Jock Hoi discussed the prospects for cooperation in respect of the Memorandum of Understanding between the EEC and ASEAN signed the day before. The parties agreed to establish stable ties between the EEC and ASEAN Headquarters in order to discuss and implement cooperation plans and projects as promptly and efficiently as possible.
