Andrey Slepnev, "The EAEU and Tunisia will study the feasibility of concluding a free trade agreement"

On November 28, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission between Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Samir Abid, Minister of Trade and Export Development of the Republic of Tunisia.

"The Eurasian Economic Union pays great attention to the development of mutually beneficial relations with Africa and sees prospects in expanding the number of countries in the region with which a preferential trade regime has been established. We consider the Tunisian Republic as one of our priority partners, attaching particular importance to expanding trade and economic cooperation between our countries,” noted Andrey Slepnev.

The meeting resulted in the parties agreeing to initiate the process of creating a joint research group to study the feasibility of concluding a free trade agreement between the EAEU and Tunisia.

The EAEU is currently negotiating a free trade agreement with another African country, the Arab Republic of Egypt. Six rounds of negotiations have been held so far.
